BC's Colacino, Princeton's Wicas Headline CF360 National Honor Roll (Feb. 15-21, 2010)

Two national fencers of the week – Princeton junior men's epeeist Graham Wicas (Newtown Square, Pa.) and Boston College junior women's foilist Jenna Colacino (Asbury, N.Y.) – headline the CollegeFencing360.com National Honor Roll, for the week of Feb. 15-21.

Wicas went 7-1 (plus a forfeited victory) during part-1 of the Ivy League Championship, held at Cornell on Feb. 21. The two-time All-American ('09 NCAA runner-up; 3rd in '08) led the #4 Princeton men to wins over #9 Penn (18-9), Brown (17-10) and Yale (14-13) – with his 5-1 win over fellow NCAA Championship Alex Cohen capping Princeton's thrilling comeback vs. the Bulldogs.

Cohen compiled a 23-1 record spanning three rounds of pools, en route to winning the women's foil title at the New England Championships (Feb. 21; at Mount Holyoke). She also helped Boston College claim the NEIFC six-weapon title and the three-weapon women's crown. Colacino finished +73 over the course of her 24 five-touch bouts, which included three victories over MIT senior Cordelia Link ( a 2007 NCAA participant) and two key wins over Brandeis talented newcomer Vikki Nunley.

The 14 honorees listed below include five women's foilists, three women's epeeists, three men's sabreists, a  women's sabreist, a men's epeeist and a men's foilist. Five of the honor-roll fencers are sophomores, along with four juniors, two freshman and one senior. Four of them are New York natives, along with three from New Jersey, two from New Hampshire and one each from California, England, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington.

Fencers are selected based on several criteria, including: won-loss record, quality of opponents, clutch performances, and contribution to team success.

Note that additional information and action photos of all 14 fencers will be added to this release, below the list of honorees.
