Favorite College Class – Advanced Programming Techniques, because it is taught by computer science legend Brian Kernighan and I like the freedom of being able to make any type of application you like.

FENCING BACKGROUND

How I got started in fencing – I started it as an after-school activity since I had to wait for my sibling to finish something after school. Halfway through the school year, I was invited to do a competition at the local fencing club, and really enjoyed it, so I started fencing at the club instead.

Family members who have been fencers – My sister, Molly Hudson, also fences epee (french grip). One of her best achievements was getting top-8 at the Cadet World Championships in Croatia.

My current coaches – Zoltan Dudas (Princeton Fencing) and Andrey Geva (Alliance Fencing)

MY ATHLETIC CAREER

My favorite international fencer – Max Heinzer [Switzerland]. I really like his fencing style. He has some very creative

moves, is fun to watch, and is also very fast.

What I would change about college fencing – I would change the selection system. I think it’s strange to have 60% of your ranking dependent on one day.

If I were to play another sport on the collegiate level, it would be – Tennis, because I really enjoy playing it recreationally  and it would be a nice way of spending more time outside

Jack Hudson A280

FAVORITES

Favorite cities where I have fenced at an event – Amman, Jordan was a lot of fun because the city has a lot of history, and I was able to stay at a very fancy resort for two weeks (you could even select the scent that you wanted your room to be every morning!)

Favorite TV Show – 24

Favorite Movie – Dark Knight

Jack Hudson (above) went 15–8 in his round-robin bouts at the 2014 NCAAs, earning the #3 seed into the medal round before losing a 15–10 semifinal to eventual champion Yevgeniy Karyuchenko of St. John’s. ... Karyuchenko failed to qualify for the 2015 NCAAs, after finishing outside the pool-of-21 at the 2015 Northeast Regional. (photo courtesy Princeton Athletics)
